Advent - Week 2: Peace

In the second message of our Advent series, Pastor George leads us into the theme of Peace — the peace God announced to the world on a quiet night outside Bethlehem, and the peace He still offers to us today.

Drawing from Luke 2:8–14, we’re reminded that the first people to hear the news of Jesus’ birth were not kings, priests, or the powerful, but shepherds — ordinary, overlooked, and considered unclean. Yet God met them with the song of heaven, declaring that through the birth of Christ, peace had come for all people.

In this message, we explore what it means for God to choose the unlikely, to step into humble places, and to bring peace right into the middle of our fear, our restlessness, and our need. Just as the shepherds moved from the outside looking in to the top of the invitation list, we are invited to receive the peace only Jesus can give — peace that restores us, reassures us, and draws us into worship.

As our church celebrates its first Advent season in the Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre, we reflect on God’s perfect timing and His faithful provision. Even in seasons of uncertainty, He meets us with the same promise announced over 2,000 years ago: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.”

Whether you’re carrying burdens, seeking direction, or longing for calm in the middle of life’s chaos, this sermon will encourage you to draw near to the Savior who brings true and lasting peace.

Join us as we continue our journey toward Christmas — learning to receive the gift of peace and to respond with worship, gratitude, and lives that glorify the One who has come to save.
