Do It Scared: A Testimony of Healing and Faith | Jack McCall

In this special message, we welcome missionary Jack McCall from Barbados, a longtime friend and ministry partner of Redemption Hill Church. Jack and his family lead YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Barbados, where they are serving the next generation and creating places for people to encounter Jesus and be transformed.
Jack begins by sharing his journey of faith—from growing up in Barbados and encountering God during a visit to South Carolina, to discovering a passion for missions and eventually joining YWAM. What began as a desire simply to serve God would eventually lead him back to Barbados, where he and his wife joined YWAM staff and began serving in ministry.
But Jack’s journey took an unexpected and deeply difficult turn. After years of serving, he found himself facing intense anxiety, depression, and debilitating panic attacks. What began suddenly became a season of darkness that affected every part of his life. He struggled with fear, isolation, and anger toward God.
In the middle of that darkness, Jack wrestled with a difficult question: Where is God when He allows us to walk through something we never expected? Yet even when Jack felt angry, afraid, and distant from God, God remained faithful. Through small steps of faith, prayer, community, and a growing trust in God's healing, Jack began the long journey toward freedom.
As Jack shares his story, he also reveals how God used that season to prepare him for something he had spent years running from—the call to lead the YWAM campus in Barbados. What Jack once feared became the very place where God would meet him, strengthen him, and ultimately use him.
Drawing from Psalm 34, Jack reminds us that God hears us in our distress, remains with us in our darkest moments, and does not abandon us when life feels overwhelming. His testimony is a powerful reminder that healing does not always happen instantly. Sometimes it comes through a journey of taking one small step at a time, trusting God even when fear is still present.
Through his own experience, Jack encourages anyone facing anxiety, depression, fear, or uncertainty to remember that they are not stuck forever. Jesus is present in the darkness, and He can lead us into freedom. Sometimes faith looks like simply taking the next step—even when you're scared.
Join us for this powerful testimony from Jack McCall as we are reminded that God meets us in our brokenness, walks with us through the difficult seasons, and can use even the places we once feared to bring about healing, purpose, and transformation.
