John 9:1-7 - From the Darkness into the Spotlight
In the twenty-third message of our series through the Gospel of John, Pastor Richard explores John 9:1–7 and Jesus’ encounter with a man who had been blind from birth. Through this powerful miracle, we are invited to see how Jesus brings people out of darkness and into the spotlight of God's grace and glory.
As the disciples focus on assigning blame and identifying the cause of the man's suffering, Jesus redirects their attention to something greater. Rather than dwelling on guilt, shame, or fault, He reveals a Kingdom perspective that looks beyond brokenness to the work God desires to accomplish. In a world that is quick to judge, condemn, and categorize, Jesus shows us that God specializes in bringing redemption, restoration, and purpose out of places marked by pain.
This message explores what it means for Jesus to be the Light of the World. Through the healing of the blind man, Pastor Richard reminds us that Christ does not simply improve old lives—He offers entirely new life. The same Savior who opened blind eyes continues to shine His light into lives burdened by regret, failure, fear, and hopelessness, calling people into freedom and a renewed identity in Him.
Pastor Richard also addresses the difficult question of suffering and healing, pointing us toward the eternal life Jesus offers. Drawing from Scripture, we are reminded that while God is able to heal physically, His greatest concern is the spiritual life that He gives—a life that cannot be destroyed and will continue long after this world passes away.
Join us as we continue our journey through the Gospel of John, discovering the One who brings light into darkness, transforms lives through His grace, and calls His people to help others step into the spotlight of God's redeeming work.
