In the third message of our series through the Gospel of John, Pastor Richard continues through John 1:19–28, turning our attention to the witness of John the Baptist and the vital question of identity.

As crowds gather and religious leaders press John to define himself, his response is clear and unwavering: he knows exactly who he is—and who he is not. In a world driven by labels, approval, and the pressure to fit in, John’s example points us to a deeper truth: our identity is not found in what we do, how we are perceived, or where we belong, but in who we belong to.

This message explores what it means to find our identity in Christ alone. Pastor Richard reminds us that while salvation is instantaneous, transformation is a journey—one where God lovingly removes what was never meant to define us and shapes us into who we were created to be. Rather than calling us to uniformity, God invites us into unity, using our unique gifts, personalities, and stories to reflect His light to the world.

Through Scripture, personal stories, and the powerful witness of John the Baptist, we are challenged to consider where we’ve allowed the world to shape our identity and invited to experience the freedom that comes from rooting our lives fully in Jesus. When we know who we are in Christ, we are no longer swayed by comparison, fear, or the need for approval, but are free to live boldly as witnesses to the true Light.

Join us as we continue our journey through the Gospel of John — learning to live as children of God, grounded in truth, shaped by grace, and shining His light together.
