John 1:29-34 - Just Keep Doing What You're Doing!
In the fourth message of our series through the Gospel of John, Pastor Richard continues into John 1:29–34, shifting our focus to the calling and testimony of John the Baptist and the freedom found in faithful obedience.
As John sees Jesus approaching, he declares a powerful truth: “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” Drawing on the deep biblical meaning of the Lamb—from Genesis to Exodus—this message reveals Jesus as the One God promised, provided, and sent to bring life through sacrifice.
Building on last week’s conversation about identity, Pastor Richard explores how identity and calling are inseparably connected. Our calling does not begin with figuring out a specific role or future plan, but with responding to God’s first and greatest call—to belong to Him. From there, calling becomes clear not through striving or pressure, but through faithfulness.
John the Baptist offers a surprising and comforting example when he says, “I myself did not know.” Yet he continued doing what God had placed before him, and through that obedience, Jesus was revealed to the world. This message reminds us that God does not require us to have everything figured out. Instead, He invites us to remain in Him, trusting that clarity and fruit come through continued faithfulness.
Join us as we continue our journey through the Gospel of John, learning to live rooted in Christ, freed from pressure, and faithful in the calling God places before us each day.
