John 1:35-52 - What Do You Want?

In the fifth message of our series through the Gospel of John, Pastor Richard continues our journey into John 1:35–42, focusing on the profound question Jesus asks: “What do you want?” 

As John points to Jesus and declares, “Look, the Lamb of God,” two of his disciples begin to follow Him. In this passage, we see the beginning of a life-changing encounter with Christ, one that challenges us to consider what it truly means to follow Him. 

This message explores the difference between casual faith and wholehearted commitment. Pastor Richard reminds us that God is not interested in being a “Plan B” or stepping into only parts of our lives—He wants to transform the whole of who we are. Using examples from the Old Testament and the calling of Simon Peter, we are shown that following Jesus requires reflection, courage, and a willingness to surrender fully to His ways. 

Through Scripture, practical insight, and the example of the early disciples, we are invited to examine our own hearts. Are we seeking quick fixes, or are we ready to let Jesus change our identity and set our lives on a new trajectory?
